Join us for our 10:30 am Sunday service, which includes a blend of traditional and contemporary music, Scripture, Sermon, Liturgy, and Holy Communion. All are welcome! On Sunday, May 28, we celebrate the birth of the church on the Feast of Pentecost, recalling the day that the twelve Apostles received the Holy Spirit from God following Jesus’ resurrection and ascension into heaven. The name “Pentecost” comes from the Greek word pentékosté meaning “fiftieth,” as Jews from all over were gathered in Jerusalem for the Feast of Shavuot which takes place 7 weeks (50 days) after Passover. (You can read the Biblical account of Pentecost in Acts 2:1-41). You are encouraged to wear red on this day, as it is the liturgical color for Pentecost and recalls the “tongues of flame” by which the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles at the first Pentecost. Alternately, you are also welcome to wear your traditional cultural clothing, or whatever will best help you celebrate the Spirit of Pentecost! Sunday School for Children meets regularly, please contact us for current schedule and other information.
